When Sport and Tourism Marketing Come Together

Now that the FIFA World Cup has come to a close, it’s a timely reminder of how major sporting events can create powerful opportunities for destination marketing.

Our member office in Germany, Harwardt PR & Marketing, recently partnered with Visit Grapevine at the Visit USA Germany Experts Day, hosted in the VIP Lounge at Bremen’s iconic Weserstadion. The football-inspired venue provided the perfect setting to engage with the German travel trade while harnessing the excitement generated by the tournament.

The event brought together 10 intensive B2B training workshops, followed by an interactive marketplace, football-themed activities and a World Cup watch party. The result was a memorable experience that not only showcased the destination but also strengthened industry relationships and increased destination awareness.

It’s a great example of how aligning destination marketing with major sporting events can amplify engagement, create meaningful connections and leave a lasting impression.

At Pangaea Network, we’re proud to work with Harwardt PR & Marketing whose local market expertise and on-the-ground knowledge help destinations connect with the right audiences in the right way.

If you’re looking to raise your destination’s profile in international markets through trusted in-market representation, get in contact to discuss how Pangaea Network can help. Contact alisonnoble@pangaeanetwork.com.

Recently, Lucrezia Martinengo from our Italian office at Martinengo Communication, travelled to Namibia with client O&L Leisure, to immerse herself in the destination, its people, and unique hospitality offering. This hands-on approach, combined with years of experience and the strength of Pangaea Network’s established global presence, allows us to work closely with our clients, to deliver targeted, effective outreach. With strong regional expertise and trusted local connections, we ensure their stories reach the right audiences in the right way.

Immersive trips to Oman from Spain

The team from Pangaea at The Blueroom Project in Madrid has enjoyed two familiarization trips to Oman, aimed at reinforcing their role as the Tourism Representation Office of the Sultanate in Spain, Portugal and Latin America throughout 2025. During these visits, the team held strategic work meetings with the MoHT (Oman Ministry of Tourism) focusing on planned promotional actions for the end of 2025 and for 2026, specifically targeting Spain and the rest of Latin America.

The trips revealed the natural and cultural diversity that makes Oman a unique destination from the vibrant capital, Muscat, with the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, its Royal Opera, and the Muttrah Souq; to the crystal-clear waters of the Daymaniyat Islands, the oases of Wadi Shab and Wadi Bani Khalid, and the breathtaking dunes of Wahiba Sands.

The expedition also included stops at iconic locations such as Sur, the birthplace of traditional dhows; the Ras al Jinz Turtle Reserve; the historic Nizwa Fort and its handicraft souqs; as well as the mountains of Jabal Akhdar, a true “garden in the sky” with centuries-old villages and terraced farms. The trips also included inspections of some of the country’s most exclusive hotels enabling the team to strengthen ties with local tourism stakeholders.

Through these trips, The Blueroom Project continues to consolidate its commitment to positioning Oman as an attractive, authentic, culturally rich and inspiring destination for travelers from Spanish-speaking markets.
